SET THE STANDARDS THE PLATFORM RUNS ON
3C Digital Solutions is seeking a Governance Lead to establish the governance framework, reference architectures, and technical standards that govern all infrastructure automation on the platform. You will work closely with the IaC Module Developer(s) and the broader automation team to keep every piece of automation consistent, secure, and auditable across a hybrid, multi-environment infrastructure.
WHY 3C
3C is a growing technology services company dedicated to applying technology in practical, thoughtful ways that improve customer mission outcomes.
Our work is guided by the 3 Cs: Customers, Communication, and Collaboration. We start with mission needs and build technology that solves real problems; we communicate clearly and proactively so teams can make better decisions; and we collaborate across engineering, operations, security, architecture, and customer teams to deliver results that last.
As an early member of a small, high-accountability team, you will have real ownership and direct influence over governance standards, automation patterns, technical documentation, and delivery practices.
For the right person, there is significant growth potential as 3C expands: broader automation or platform ownership, technical leadership, solution design, customer engagement, and mentoring opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and maintain the governance framework, reference architectures, and technical standards that govern all infrastructure automation executed through the platform.
- Develop and maintain reference architectures for infrastructure provisioning across a hybrid environment spanning on-premises and cloud platforms — the pattern every automation effort on the platform has to follow — and produce the supporting technical documentation.
- Define and publish automation coding standards, naming conventions, repository structure templates, and code review guidelines.
- Build out a standards and policy taxonomy covering coding standards, naming conventions, repository structure, code review criteria, policy-as-code taxonomy, and state and drift management standards — the rule book for how automation gets written, reviewed, secured, and operated.
- Develop a policy taxonomy for policy-as-code enforcement, including pre-execution policy checks through the platform's native policy engine, and author custom policies aligned with federal security requirements and FedRAMP controls.
- Define state management and drift detection standards, including desired state tracking, drift reporting thresholds, and automated remediation patterns.
- Maintain a living standards document, updated quarterly, to reflect lessons learned and evolving program requirements.
- Set the requirements for how the platform's authoritative state and configuration data must be stored and protected, including concurrent write locking, encryption at rest and in transit, and an immutable audit trail of every change.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- ITIL v4 Foundation or higher
- Experience establishing automation governance frameworks, including policy enforcement mechanisms, KPI reporting dashboards, exception management processes, and change alignment procedures
- Experience in regulated federal environments, with a demonstrated understanding of NIST guidance, the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), and federal IT compliance requirements
- Experience facilitating governance review boards and reporting to senior leadership
This experience may also be demonstrated through developer relations, platform enablement, technical evangelism, or other customer-facing technical roles that show an ability to drive cross-team adoption of governance standards, in addition to traditional IT governance or compliance positions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Information security certification: CISSP, CISM, or equivalent
COMPENSATION
$105,000–$145,000 annually, depending on experience.
